Band, choir to perform

The Fort Frances High School senior band and choir are busy getting ready for their 2007 concert tour to Prince Edward Island.
Sixty-eight band members, 10 chaperones, and four bus drivers will make the 3,800-km round trip from April 27-May 6.
Concerts are planned in Moncton, N.B., Summerside, P.E.I., and Montreal. The group will spend one night in Canada’s capital, and also will visit Quebec City.
They will leave Friday on two buses—travelling all night to arrive in Quebec City by late afternoon on Saturday. Then they’ll travel Sunday to Moncton, where they will play concerts Monday and Tuesday.
Tuesday evening they’ll arrive in Summerside, where they will enjoy P.E.I. and perform both Wednesday and Thursday.
On Friday (May 4), they will travel to Ottawa to enjoy the tulip festival and historic sites in the capital. Then they will leave Ottawa late that night to arrive home Sunday morning.
John Dutton and the band/choir have been rehearsing several times a week over the past few months to prepare for the trip.
They will perform their concert tour repertoire tomorrow (April 25) at 7 p.m. at the Townshend Theatre, and invite everyone to enjoy this pre-trip concert.
Admission is $3, with proceeds going to the “Building for the Future” fundraising campaign for a new library here.
