The Halkirk fire protection team will hold its 27th-annual fish fry on Saturday, Aug. 4 from noon-6 p.m. at the Bear Pass fire hall (Bear Pass Road). A bouncy castle will be on hand again this year. “Voices” Summer Camp 2018 will be held from Sunday, Aug. 12-Thursday, Aug. 16 at Quetico Centre. The Rainy Lake Community Orchestra is holding a “Summer String Camp” for string players of all ages and abilities. Practices will be held at the Ranier Community Building in Ranier, Mn. beginning on Sunday, Aug. 12. Registration is not required. The Rainy Lake Sinfonia (youth and less-experienced players) will rehearse from 4-5 p.m. each day, Sunday through Thursday. The Rainy Lake Orchestra (adult and advanced students) will practice from 5:30-7 p.m. each day. A free concert then will be held on Friday, Aug. 17 at 7 p.m. at the Ranier Community Building. The next “Open Air Art Studio,” presented by Community Living Fort Frances and District, will be held Monday, Aug. 13 from 3-7 p.m. at Point Park. The theme will be the Japanese art of Shibori dyeing. The session is free, and all ages and abilities are welcome to attend.
The Rainy River Valley Agricultural Society will hold its annual fall fair Aug. 16-18 at the Emo fairgrounds.
