To mark Paramedic Services Week, the Rainy River Association of Professional Paramedics and Rainy River District Paramedic Services will hold free barbecues from 4-8 p.m. today (May 31) at the Emo ambulance base, as well as on Saturday, June 2 from noon-4 p.m. at the Fort Frances ambulance base. There also will be games, prizes, a bake sale, open house, and ambulance tours.
The St. Mary’s Youth Group will be hosting a garage sale on Friday, June 1 from 6-8 p.m. and again on Saturday, June 2 from 8 a.m.-noon at St. Mary’s church. If you wish to donate items or help set up, come by today (May 31) from 6-8 p.m.

Borderland Racing Association action goes Saturday, June 2 at the Emo Speedway, with hot laps at 7 p.m. and the first heat at 7:30 (weather permitting). Admission is $12 for adults and $8 for students/seniors, with those nine and under being free.
The retired nurses dinner will be held Monday, June 4 at the Fort Frances Legion, with cocktails at 5:30 p.m. and dinner at 6:30. The District 1A Senior Games runs June 5-6 in Fort Frances. Registration has been extended until noon on Friday, June 1 for billiards, pickleball, and floor shuffleboard only. The registration fee is $35, which includes lunch both days and the banquet on Tuesday night, with forms available at the Fort Frances Senior Centre (Sister Kennedy Centre).
