A Good Friday service will be held on Friday, April 19 at New Beginnings Fellowship Church. Breakfast at 9:30 a.m. followed by the service at 10:30 a.m. Hosted by Bethel Baptist Church, Evangelical Covenant Church, Evangelical Fellowship Church, and New Beginnings Fellowship Church.
The annual Good Friday fish fry, hosted by the Fort Frances Lakers, will be held on Friday, April 19 from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Couchiching Multi-Purpose Building. An Easter market, presented by the Rainy River District Farmers’ Market, will take place on Saturday, April 20 from 9 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Copper River Inn. A bottle drive fundraiser, being conducted by the new Rainy Lake Gymnastics Academy, will take place on Saturday, April 20 from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. To have volunteers pick up your bottles, please call/text 276-1545 or message the Rainy Lake Gymnastics Academy via Facebook. You also can drop off your bottles at the Memorial Sports Centre parking lot on Saturday from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
“Egg-stravaganza,” once again presented by the Fort Frances Kiwanis Club, will be held on Saturday, April 20 from 11 a.m.-1 p.m. on the Great Canadian Main Street (Scott Street). Pick up a map of the participating businesses at the Rainy Lake Square and then collect treats along the route (bring your own basket or bag). There also will be a barbecue lunch at the square ($4), along with prizes and a visit from the Easter Bunny (bring your own camera). Win one of three bikes!
Town council will hold its next regular meeting Monday, April 22 at the Civic Centre. It will immediately follow the committee of the whole meeting, which gets underway downstairs at 5:30 p.m.
The Fort Frances Chamber of Commerce will be holding their annual general meeting on Tuesday, April 23 from 11:30 a.m.-1 p.m. at the Copper River Inn. Guest speakers will include MPP Greg Rickford and representatives of the local OPP. Anyone interested in attending is asked to contact the Chamber office at 274-5773 to RSVP.
An opening reception for “Taking Back our Natural World,” the new exhibit about climate change, will be held on Wednesday, April 24 from 4-6 p.m. at the Fort Frances Museum. Refreshments will be served. All welcome.
Riverside Health Care will hold its next open board meeting on Thursday, April 25 at 6 p.m. in the board room at Rainycrest Long Term Care.

The spring cattle sale, hosted by the Rainy River Cattlemen’s Association, will be held on Saturday, April 27 at the Stratton Sales Barn. Start time is 8:30 a.m. Protocol cattle will see at 1 p.m.
A community tree care workshop, presented by the Fort Frances Museum and the Ministry of Natural Resources and Forestry, will be held on Saturday, April 27 at the museum (259 Scott St.). The indoor session will run from 9 a.m.-noon (doors open at 8:30 a.m.), followed by an outdoor session from 1-3:30 p.m. No charge but participants must pre-register as space is limited. “Mama’s Gone Country Chic,” this year’s spring fundraiser luncheon for the Riverside Foundation for Health Care, will be held on Saturday, April 27 at 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. in the upstairs hall at the Emo Arena. The Fort Frances Choraliers will perform their Easter cantata, this year entitled “Hope Alive in Me,” on Sunday, April 28 at 3 p.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in International Falls and again on Sunday, May 5 at 3 p.m. at the New Beginnings Fellowship. Free-will offerings will be accepted.
The Fort Frances Minor Hockey Association will hold its annual general meeting on Tuesday, April 30 at 6 p.m. in the Ice For Kids conference room. There will be elections for president, secretary, registrar, and six director positions.
The “Highlights Concert” for the Rainy River District Festival of the Performing Arts festival will be held Tuesday, April 30 at 6:30 p.m. at the Townshend Theatre.

The Lions Legacy Golf Tournament, presented by the Fort Frances Lions Club and the Fort Frances Voyageurs Lions Club, will be held on Saturday, June 22 starting at 10 a.m. at the Heron Landing (Couchiching). The cost is $100 each or $400/team, which includes 18 holes of golf, a cart, and supper. Entries limited to the first 36 paid teams, with the registration deadline being June 6.
