An evening of updates on technology and how to use in managing diabetes is set for Thursday, April 4 from 6-8 p.m. in the Shaw Room at the Fort Frances Public Library. Light snacks will be provided. “Ag Day 2019,” hosted by the Rainy River Federation of Agriculture, will be held Saturday, April 6 from 8:30 a.m.-4:30 p.m. at the Chapple rec centre in Barwick. A Pysanky workshop (Ukrainian Easter egg decorating) will be held Saturday, April 6 at 1 p.m. at the Fort Frances Public Library. It is for ages 12 and up, with the cost being $10/person. Those interested must register in person at the library and pay the fee upon registration.
The Border Figure Skating Club presents its 47th-annual ice show, this year entitled “Revolutions,” on Saturday, April 6 at 7 p.m. and again on Sunday, April 7 at 2 p.m. at the Ice For Kids Arena. Tickets cost $10 for adults and $8 for students/seniors in advance (available at the Sunset Country Ford service counter) and $12 for adults and $10 for students/seniors at the door.
The Fort Frances Minor Hockey Association will hold its annual Awards Night on Sunday, April 7 at the Memorial Sports Centre auditorium. IP and Novice will be at 3 p.m. (spaghetti supper), with Atom, PeeWee, Bantam, and Midget to follow at 5 p.m. (spaghetti supper). Admission is free.
Town council will hold its next regular meeting Monday, April 8 at the Civic Centre. It will immediately follow the committee of the whole meeting, which gets underway downstairs at 5:30 p.m.

The third-annual spaghetti supper fundraiser for the La Vallee Fire & Emergency Service will be held on Saturday, April 13 from 4:30-7 p.m. at the Devlin Community Hall. Tickets cost $10. Tickets available at the municipal office, any La Vallee firefighter, or at the door (if there’s any left).

The Fort Frances Girls’/Women’s Hockey Association will hold its annual general meeting on Wednesday, April 17 at 7 p.m. in the Ice For Kids boardroom at the Memorial Sports Centre.
The annual meeting of the Rainy River Finance Co-Operative Limited and Rainy River Beef Breeder Finance Co-Operative Corporation will be held on Monday April 15 at 7:30 p.m. in the club room at the Chapple Rec Centre. Breeder meeting will follow feeder meeting.
The annual Good Friday fish fry, hosted by the Fort Frances Lakers, will be held on Friday, April 19 from 5-6:30 p.m. at the Couchiching Multi-Purpose Building. “Mama’s Gone Country Chic,” this year’s spring fundraiser luncheon for the Riverside Foundation for Health Care, will be held on Saturday, April 27 at 11:30 a.m.-2 p.m. in the upstairs hall at the Emo Arena. The Lions Legacy Golf Tournament, presented by the Fort Frances Lions Club and the Fort Frances Voyageurs Lions Club, will be held on Saturday, June 22 starting at 10 a.m. at the Heron Landing (Couchiching). The cost is $100 each or $400/team, which includes 18 holes of golf, a cart, and supper. Entries limited to the first 36 paid teams, with the registration deadline being June 6.
