Arpin cracks top 10 twice

A busy week ended with two top-10 finishes for Fort Frances native Steve Arpin.
Arpin first raced to a 10th-place showing at the ARCA RE/MAX 200 last Friday before following that up with a ninth-place finish at the Southern Illinois 100 at DuQuoin State Fairgrounds on Labour Day.
Parker Kligerman took the checkered flag on Monday. Kligerman charged from the back to the front and then held off five-time DuQuoin winner Frank Kimmel during the last lap to earn his seventh series win of the year.
Eight cautions slowed the race for 35 laps, the last of which happened inside of 10 laps from the finish when Eddie Pearson and Tim George Jr. tangled in turn three.
That set up the one lap battle that Kligerman ultimately won.
Arpin qualified with the fifth-fastest time during practice.
He currently sits in seventh overall in the points race with 3,545. Justin Lofton (4,320) leads the way, followed by Kligerman (4,285) and Frank Kimmel (3,980).
The ARCA RE/MAX Series heads to the New Jersey Motorsports Park road course next with the second-annual South Jersey Building Trades 150 on Sunday (Sept. 13).
Only four races remain on the ARCA circuit to decide a series champion.
