Another win for Rockettes

Staff

Defensive duels haven’t exactly been the norm this season for the Wright Physiotherapy Rockettes.
But they proved last night they can play as well around their own net as they have around the other teams’ goal like most of this season.
Mary Waghorn’s first goal was the game-winner as the Rockettes edged the Fine Foods Fury 2-1 in Borderland Women’s Indoor Soccer League action at Fort High.
League scoring leader Maggie Jean notched her 14th goal of the campaign for Wright Physiotherapy (4-1), which moved within one point of the first-place La Place Rendez-Vous Rage (4-0-1) with its second-straight win.
Bryanna Dustin replied with her eighth of the year for the third-place Fury (2-3).
The night’s other contest saw new players make an impact for both the Rage and the Shear Serenity Strykers in a 3-3 draw.
All the goals for the Vous came from recently-added players from the Boston Pizza Ball Blasters, which had its roster redistributed throughout the league after folding last week.
Sara Kellar found the target twice while Savannah Basaraba got the other one.
Jaymee Fiset (two) and Sydney Radigan scored for the fourth-place Strykers.
Action resumes next Wednesday (when the Fury face the Strykers at 7 p.m.
A first-place showdown between the Rage and Rockettes will follow.
