Al’s topples Taggs

Cassandra Moffitt is holding court quite well—even if she’s not currently playing on a court.
The accomplished high school and college volleyball and basketball player continued her strong rookie season in the Borderland Soccer League’s women’s division with a pair of goals to pace Al’s Racquet Stringing to a 7-1 romp over Taggs last night.
Katie Beninger, Katie Sinclair, Sara Kellar, Hailey Beaudry, and Angel McCormack also scored for Al’s (2-3), which moved into second place over Taggs (1-4).
Myan Miller was the only Taggs’ player to beat keeper Phyllis Pierson as Al’s snapped a three-game losing skid.
Suzie Sonnasinh and Sara Roach split time between the pipes for Taggs, which now has lost two-straight.
In men’s division play last night, Caleb Koomans’ tally gave International Travel Services a 1-0 victory over Pharmasave.
Ben Whitburn recorded the shutout for ITS (3-2), which grabbed sole possession of second place over idle Manitou Forest Products (2-2).
Jeremy Nussbaumer suffered the loss in goal for Pharmasave (1-3).
League action resumes Monday at 7 p.m. when Al’s faces the La Place Rendez-Vous U18 Voyageurs (4-0) in the women’s division.
Meanwhile, Pharmasave will try to bounce back against Manitou in men’s play.
