‘Age-Friendly’ recognition

Robert Schulz and Irene Laing of the local Age-Friendly Community Committee received a 2018 Ontario Age-Friendly Community Recognition Award plaque from Coun. June Caul on behalf of council during its regular meeting Monday night. Coun. Caul, who also has been part of the committee since its inception in 2016, noted since then, the committee (with the help of co-ordinator Ian Simpson) devised an action plan after conducting a survey, held focus groups, made presentations, and met with partners and stakeholders. Being recognized as an “Age-Friendly Community” gives the local committee access to greater resources and support, as well as eligibility for recognition on a national and global level.
