“Heroes of Folk,” a free concert being held in conjunction with the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship, is scheduled for Sunday, July 23 at 1:30 p.m. under the big tent at the Sorting Gap Marina.
A MuchMusic video teen dance party, being held in conjunction with the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship, is slated for Sunday, July 23 starting at 6 p.m. under the big tent at the Sorting Gap Marina. Admission is $7.

“Fish or No Fish,” being held in conjunction with the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship, goes Monday, July 24 under the big tent at the Sorting Gap Marina. Doors open at 6 p.m., with the first draw for contestants at 7:30 p.m. Tickets for adults cost $13 in advance and $16 at the door while those for youths (under age 18) are $7.50 in advance and $10.50 at the door.
Borderland Jr. Thunder ‘AAA’ summer hockey tryouts will be held Monday, July 24 from 6-7:30 p.m. at the Ice for Kids Arena. Cost is $20. A development camp then will be held July 31-Aug. 4, with the team participating in a tournament in Duluth on Aug. 25-27. Cost for the camp and tournament is $300. Town council will hold its next regular meeting Monday, July 24 at 6:30 p.m. at the Civic Centre. The committee of the whole will meet first at 5:30.
The Fort Frances Horticultural Society will hold its monthly meeting Monday, July 24 at 7 p.m. at the old CN station. A talk on monarch butterflies will be given, and refreshments will be served. Everyone welcome.

The annual parade of boats for the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship will be held Wednesday, July 26 starting at 5 p.m. from Fourth Street West. Hypnotist Michael Leach will follow at 9 p.m. under the big tent at the Sorting Gap Marina.
The Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship kicks off Thursday, July 27 starting at 7 a.m. The weigh-ins under the big tent at the Sorting Gap Marina start at 3:30 p.m. on Thursday and Friday, and then at 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, July 29.
“Daytime Land” runs Thursday, July 27-Saturday, July 29 from 10 a.m.-4 p.m. at the Sorting Gap Marina. Activities will include a remote control car contest, shoreline fishing contest, and pizza-eating and doughnut-eating contests.
The Fort Frances Museum is offering “bass crafts” at the Sorting Gap Marina on Thursday, July 27-Saturday, July 29 from 1-3 p.m.

A paddleboat fishing contest for kids goes Friday, July 28 at 9 a.m. (Flight 1) and 10:30 a.m. (Flight 2), and again on Saturday, July 29 at 9 a.m. (Flight 3) and 10:30 a.m. (Flight 4) starting from the Sorting Gap Marina.
The “Ultimate Rod Stewart Tribute Concert” goes Friday, July 28 starting at 9 p.m. under the big tent at the Sorting Gap Marina as part of the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship. Tickets cost $12 in advance and $15 at the door (age of majority required).
“Straw Dogs” (featuring Chris Krienke, Arden Bruyere, and Brad Leishman) will close out the Fort Frances Canadian Bass Championship on Saturday, July 29 starting at 9 p.m. under the big tent at the Sorting Gap Marina. Admission is $12 in advance and $15 at the door (age of majority required).
