The sixth-annual “Castin’ for Cash” bass tournament will be held Saturday, July 8 and Sunday, July 9 at Lake Despair Lodge (located 18 miles north of Devlin on Highway 613). The boats depart at 8 a.m. both days, with the weigh-ins starting at 4 p.m. There’s also a fish fry supper on Saturday at 6 p.m. ($12 for adults and $8 for youths), followed by live music by “Crisis” at 8 p.m.
The Clover Valley Farmers’ Market will be open Saturday, July 8 from 9 a.m.-2 p.m.
Stock car racing will be held at the Emo Speedway on Saturday, July 8 (weather permitting). Hot laps are at 7 p.m., with the first race at 7:30. Cancer awareness night and kids’ bike races also will be featured this week.
Vacation Bible School, for children in senior kindergarten to Grade 6, will be held Monday, July 10 and Tuesday, July 11 from 10 a.m.-3 p.m. at the Victory Baptist Church (located on Highway 11/71 in Crozier). Lunch and snacks provided each day. Call 274-1561 for more information.

Town council will hold its next regular meeting Monday, July 10 at 7:20 p.m. at the Civic Centre. The committee of the whole will meet first at 5:30.

A scavenger hunt, organized by the Fort Frances Museum, will be held from 2:30-4 p.m. and again from 6-7:30 p.m. starting from the gazebo at the Sorting Gap Marina. Prizes available to be won.
An evening of Scottish music and dance, presented by the annual Fort Frances School of Celtic Arts and featuring Ian Anderson of the Toronto Police Pipe Band, will be held Thursday, July 13 at 7 p.m. at the Townshend Theatre. The “Surviving the death of a child” support group, organized by Koochiching Hospice and Respite, will hold its next meeting Tuesday, July 18 at 7 a.m. at the First Lutheran Church in International Falls.
Youngsters are invited to discover the Fort in Fort Frances and the Falls in International Falls by meeting at the shelter at the Legion Park on Thursday, July 20 either from 2:30-4 p.m. or from 6-7:30 p.m. This event is being organized by the Fort Frances Museum.
