YVONNE MARIE BURMEISTER

Bebaamoyaashiik – Atikwan Odoodeman

Yvonne Marie Burmeister of Littlefork Minnesota was born in Fort Frances, Ontario, on July 12, 1974, to Leonard and Shirley Horton Loveland. Vonnie is an enrolled member of Rainy River First Nations at Manitou Rapids. Her Anishinaabe name is Bebaamoyaashiik of the Caribou Clan. 

Vonnie attended school in International Falls where she graduated in 1992. She earned a Business degree at Bemidji Technical College. After marrying the love of her life, Duane Burmeister, they made their home in Littlefork, Minn. Vonnie became a stepmom to Duane’s three sons and a loving companion to two very special dogs; Pete and Chester. Chester, their beloved, is still with the family.  

Vonnie passed at St. Mary’s Hospital in Duluth on June 16, 2026 at age 51. Cherishing her memory are her devoted husband Duane; her stepsons and their families, Kyle and Jessica, their children Charlotte, Burke, and August, Bryce and Shana, their children Nova, Lucy, and Athena, son Brandon; their beloved dog Chester; as well as Duane’s sisters, brothers, and their families. Also cherishing her life are her parents Shirley and Tim Kampa of Blackduck Minn., Vonnie’s best friend and sister Barb and husband Scott Jandrey of Soudan Minn., beloved brother Rob Horton of Fort Frances, Ont., her special niece Ashley Kaushagen and her children Jaylee, Scarlett and Tucker, beloved nephew Tyler Kaushagen of Thunder Bay Ont., Uncle Larry Indian, Tracey Roach, and cousins Veronica, Bryan, their children Makenna, Tegan and Kale, Sean Stinson and family, Brenda Hyatt and children Kori Oakley, Dakota and Taylor Hyatt of Int’l Falls, Ernest Bruyere, the entire Moreau family of Fort Frances, and the entire community of Manitou Rapids.

There are many people who Vonnie loved who are just too numerous to mention, but know she loved you all dearly.

Preceding her are her father and step-mother Leonard and Lois Loveland; Parental Grandparents Ernest Jack and Vivian Loveland; her grandmother Yvonne Moreau Loveland; father and mother-in-law Leonhard and Hilda Burmeister; Maternal Grandparents Elsie and Gerald Bruyere, Bobby and Eliza Medicine, Fred and Sarah Kingbird, and Great-Great Grandparents Maggie and Sandy Horton of Manitou Rapids; Uncle Tom Indian, Aunt Linda Indian, cousins Sonny Medicine and Angela Indian, and Aunt IIene Indian.

Yvonne has been cremated and her ashes will be spread at a very special designated place she loved, as she wished, at a later date.
