With deep sorrow, the family of Yves De Gagné announces his passing peacefully into eternal life on Wednesday, July 13, 2016 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
He was born Oct. 17, 1944 in Fort Frances.
He was united in marriage to the love of his life, Kathleen (née Cross), on March 20, 1971 at St. Mary Parish in Fort Frances.
His first job was working for the Co-Op picking up cream from across the district. He enjoyed this job as he was able to interact with all the local farmers.
He also was a Town of Fort Frances constable in the early 1970s. He later was hired by the local paper mill, from which he retired in 2003.
Yves also served his lifelong community of Alberton as a councillor and reeve. He lived out his faith by striving to be honest and fair in all his dealings with others.
His parents, Odilas and Valeda De Gagné; in-laws, Victor and May Cross; and eight siblings once more enjoy his company.
Left to cherish his memory are his loving wife, Kathleen; children, Réal (Rosanne) De Gagné, Celeste De Gagné, Fr. Victor De Gagné, and Zubair (Tasneem) De Gagné; grandchildren Elizabeth, Aidan, Christen, and Gabrielle De Gagné, Zachary, Evan, and Megan Fletcher, and Tahir De Gagné; four siblings; many in-laws and relatives.
Family and friends gathered on Sunday, July 17, 2016 at Northridge Funeral Home in Emo, Ont. for a time of visitation and prayers.
The funeral Mass was offered Monday, July 18, 2016 at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of Lourdes Roman Catholic Church in Couchiching, Ont., with his son, Fr. Victor De Gagné, officiating.
Interment followed at Holy Cross Cemetery in Fort Frances.
