Winnie Cameron, 74, of 928 Victoria Ave. N., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Sunday, Dec. 28, 1997 at the Health Sciences Centre in Winnipeg, Man.
She was born Nov. 20, 1923 in Canning Town, England to the late James and Beatrice Lowe. In 1945, Winnie came to Canada as a war bride and settled in Sioux Lookout, Ont. That same year, Winnie was united in marriage to William “Mick” Cameron.
In 1950, the family moved to Fort Frances, where they have resided since. In prior years, Winnie had worked for a time at Rainycrest Home for the Aged. She also was a member of the Redwing Rebekah Lodge #109, and for enjoyment loved gardening.
She was predeceased by one brother, James Lowe.
Winnie is survived by her husband, Mick Cameron, of Fort Frances, Ont.; one daughter, Lorraine and husband, Max Shapiro, of North Bay, Ont., three sons, Malcolm and wife, Marta, of Corbeil, Ont., Gordon of Saskatoon, Sask., and Donald and wife, Christine, of Fort Frances, Ont.; and seven grandchildren, Cory, Donny, Andrea, Jamee, Nicole, Chantel, and Jesse.
She also is survived by three sisters, Beatrice and husband, Len Webb, Rene and husband, Roy Milburn, and Dorothy Nicholls; and by nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 31, 1997 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances with Rev. Patrick Playfair officiating.
