WILMER CLARENCE STANG 1931-2019

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our dear husband, father, and grandfather on Nov. 28, 2019 in Rainy River, Ont.
Wilmer was born in North Branch. After the untimely death of his father when he was five, Wilmer, his mother and four siblings moved to Devlin. After a few years, he and his family moved to Dewart Township and that is where he was married, raised his family and spent the rest of his life.
When Wilmer was a boy, he had two key mentors in his life–Cliff Berg and Ed Mundahl.
Wilmer worked very hard for many years primarily as a beef farmer, trapper and an independent logger.
He was active in his community throughout his life, involved with the school board, local roads’ board, and the Pineridge Cemetery, to name a few.
He was generous with his time in advocating for and assisting his family, friends, neighbours, and visitors.
Wilmer had unending time, patience, and affection for his grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and the children of his neighbourhood.
Wilmer will be missed by his wife of 65 years, Marjorie; his children, Steven (Karen) Stang, Dwight (Carolyn) Stang, Joyce (Allan) Pennarun, and Janet (Steve) Lenart; his grandchildren, Vincent Pennarun, Joleen Pennarun, Laura (Eldon) Gibson, Wade Stang, Kayla (Carter) Stang, Ashley (Ryan) Everton, and Steven (Shailey) Lenart; and great-grandchildren, Maya, Jacob, Brittany Gibson, and Abigail Gibson.
He also leaves to mourn his sisters and brothers-in-law, Grace Stang, Bradley Haw, Delores (Dudley) Livingston, Malcolm Douglas, and Brad (Diane) Brannan.
Wilmer leaves behind his many nieces and nephews and their families, for whom he had a very special place in his life.
Wilmer was predeceased by his parents, William Stang and Myrtle (Cliff) Berg (nee Caul); brothers and sisters, William (Evelyn) Stang, George Stang, Dale (Shirley) Berg, Katherine (Art) Nielson, and Edith Haw; sister-in-law, Ruby Douglas; and niece, Sheryl Cook.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, Dec. 5, 2019 at 11 a.m. at Northridge Funeral Home in Emo.
A luncheon will be held at Northridge followed by internment at Pineridge Cemetery in North Branch.
