WILLIAM (ZOCK) ARCHIE

William (Zock) Archie, 39, of Big Grassy First Nation, Ont., passed away tragically at his residence on Tuesday, Jan. 20, 2004.
He was born Feb. 4, 1964 in Rainy River, Ont.
Zock lived most of his life in Big Grassy. While growing up, he attended numerous elementary schools and later attended high school in Rainy River. He enjoyed trapping and fishing in the area over the years with his family and friends.
Zock was a certified small engine mechanic, and helped many people in the community with odd jobs. He also liked visiting people and helping them with any kind of work that needed to be done.
At home, Zock loved playing cards and Scrabble with his brothers. He was very easy-going, and was well-liked and respected by all in the area.
Zock is leaving us with happy memories and will be sadly missed by all.
He was predeceased by his father, William Copenace; grandparents, Ben and Jane Copenace and Jean Archie; and two brothers, Ted Archie and Wilfred James Archie.
Zock is survived by his mother, Susan Archie of Winnipeg, Man.; three brothers, Richard Brown of St. Paul, Mn., and Jamie Archie (Louise G. Morrison) and Derek Archie, all of Big Grassy First Nation, Ont.; and three sisters, Lena Archie of Big Grassy First Nation, Ont., Cheryl Archie of Thunder Bay, Ont., and Mary Big George of Big Island First Nation, Ont.
Also surviving are his aunties, Lollie, Jenny, Christine, Lena, Melvina, Rosemary, Sharon, Brenda, Audrey, Rhonda, and Bernadine; uncles, Leslie, Alvin, Ernie, Jazz, and Noel; as well as other numerous aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
A traditional burial ritual was held Monday, Jan. 26, 2004 at 10 a.m. at the Big Grassy First Nation band hall. Elder Fred Kelly officiated, with interment in Big Grassy First Nation Cemetery.
A wake was held Sunday evening at the Big Grassy First Nation band hall.
Pallbearers were John Copenace, Noel Comegan, Thomas Morrison, Rod Traverse, Stan Jack Sr., and Tom Jack.
Honourary pallbearers were Robert Archie, Alvin Copenace, David Joe Copenace, Fred Jack Sr., Joseph Andy, and Johnny Comegan.
