WILLIAM THOMAS ELROY WREGGITT

William Thomas Elroy Wreggitt, 80, of Fort Frances, Ontario passed away at Thunder Bay Regional Hospital on Sunday, October 14, 2001.
Bill was born and raised in Farrington, Ontario, and lived most of his life in Fort Frances. He spent much of his younger years trapping, guiding and logging.
Bill served as a Tank Commander with the Strathcona Horse Regiment in the Italian and North African campaigns in World War II. Upon discharge, Bill returned to Fort Frances where he began employment with MANDO. He worked in various positions but spent most of his 37 years as a Beater Engineer.
Bill served on the Papermakers Local 306 Union Executive for many years. As Union President he had many achievements. He was a skilled negotiator and was instrumental in the inking of a pension plan that was the envy of the industry.
Bill married the love of his life, Norma Swensen Carroll, on January 5, 1946. They enjoyed the outdoors and spent many yours canoeing on Rainy Lake. Together they selected a spot on Redgut Bay where they built and operated Point O’ Pines Camp and raised their seven children. After Bill’s retirement, they enjoyed summers at Point O’ Pines Camp and winters, golfing, at their home at Highpoint in Brooksville, Florida. He remained active in the camp until his death. He was a member of the Canadian Legion, the Oddfellows and the Moose. Bill’s wit and spontaneous sense of humour will be missed by all who knew him.
