WILLIAM NEURINSKI SR.

William (Bill) Neurinski Sr. passed away peacefully after a lengthy illness on Friday, March 4, 2005 at Rainycrest Home for the Aged, 550 Osborne Street, Fort Frances, Ont.
Bill was born Jan. 18, 1922 in Fort Frances. He attended Robert Moore elementary school and Fort Frances High School.
On June 21, 1947, Bill was united in marriage to the former Helen Paripa.
In his early years, Bill worked as an usher at the Royal Theatre. Later, he was employed as a steam plant engineer for the Ontario-Minnesota pulp and paper company, and Boise Cascade for 35 years, retiring on Feb. 1, 1984.
Following retirement, Bill and Helen wintered in Arizona and California, spending Christmases with their daughter, Carol Frisch, and family in San Francisco, Calif.
Bill is survived by his wife, Helen; sons, Bill Jr. (Maureen) and Paul (Susan), all of Fort Frances, Ont.; and daughter, Carol Frisch (Mike) of San Francisco, Calif.
Also surviving are grandchildren, Jonathan, Jill, Christopher, and Dayle Neurinski, and Travis (Lisa) and Nathan Frisch; great-grandson, “T.J.” Travis William Frisch Jr.; and nieces, Marlene and Janice.
Bill was predeceased by his parents; brother, Peter; and sisters, Mary and Annie.
Bill will be fondly remembered for his appreciation of life, bowling, curling, fishing, camping, and afternoon coffee at McDonald’s with his friends. Bill was “Gigi” to many. His greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren and precious great-grandson, “T.J.”
Bill was a devoted member of St. George’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church, acting as altar server for many years. He also was a member of the Ukrainian Literary Hall and the Royal Canadian Legion in Fort Frances.
Visitation will be held Tuesday, March 8, 2005 from 6:30-8 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with parish prayers at 7 p.m.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, March 9, 2005 at 10 a.m. at Green Funeral Home, with the Right Rev. Dr. Oleh Krawchenko of Winnipeg, Man. and Fr. Michael Kopchuk, parish priest, officiating.
The pallbearers will be his grandsons, Johnathan, Chris, Travis, and Nathan; and friends, John Albanese and Mark Kowalchuk.
The honourary pallbearers will be all of Bill’s friends.
Interment will take place in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations may be made to St. George’s Ukrainian Orthodox Church, 804 McKenzie Ave., Fort Frances, Ont., or to the charity of your choice.
