WILLIAM JOHN ‘BILLY’ SMITH

It is with sadness that the family of William John “Billy” Smith, 63, of Fort Frances, Ont., announce his passing on Saturday, Nov. 27, 2010 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.
Born in Fort Frances, Billy lived most of his life in nearby Alberton.
Billy loved to spend time with friends and family, and always was ready to lend a hand at anytime. He was very close to his family, and will be dearly missed by his family and friends.
Billy is survived by his two brothers, Phillip Smith of Fort Frances, Ont. and Raymond (Sharon) Smith of Cambridge, Ont. and their children, Julie, Jeanette, and Jenny; and five sisters, Judy Tibbs of Fort Frances, Ont. and her children, Joey, B.J., and Crystal, Linda (Gaston) Gretler and Mary-ann (Jerry) Anderson, all of Fort Frances, Ont., Eleanor Smith of Texas and her children, Tammy and Tina, and Dorothy (Milton) Veanables of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. and their children, Iris, Roseann, Lilly, Violet, Lila, Walter, and Holly.
Also surviving are nieces and nephews, Susan, Kevin, and Darren Lasn of Thunder Bay, Ont.
Billy was predeceased by his parents, Alexander and Agnes Smith; sisters, Helen Lasn, Gladys Smith, and Lillian Smith; and brother, Allen Smith.
A memorial service celebrating Billy’s life will be held Thursday, Dec. 2, 2010 at 10 a.m. at Knox United Church in Fort Frances, with Rev. Barbara Miller officiating.
Interment will take place in Holy Cross Cemetery in Fort Frances at a later date.
The honourary pallbearers will be Billy’s family and friends.
