Willi August Geissler, 70, of RR#1, Stratton, Ont., passed away Wednesday, Feb. 9, 2000 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
He was born on Sept. 25, 1929 in Wanna, Germany to the late August and Justina Geissler.
Mr. Geissler came to Canada in 1957. He lived in various communities throughout Ontario before moving in May, 1972 to Stratton, where he had lived since.
He had worked as a stationery engineer near Red Lake, Ont., and also had worked as an electrician and carpenter in Stratton.
He enjoyed gardening and working his hobby farm. He was a dedicated family man, and enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. His tremendous faith in God kept him optimistic during his illness.
Willi was united in marriage Sept. 24, 1960 to the former Erna Weiss, who survives along with one daughter, Silvia (Shawn) Ottarson of Crozier, Ont., and two sons, Willi (Judi) Geissler of Pickering, Ont. and Rolf (Diane) Geissler of Peace River, Alta.
Also surviving are four grandchildren, Kirstin, Erik, Ramona, and Elizabeth; two brothers, Werna Stein of Africa and Hans Geissler of Germany; one sister, Edith Bramer of Germany; as well as numerous nieces and nephews in Africa and Germany.
Memorial services were held Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000 at 1 p.m. at the Stratton United Church in Stratton, with Pastor Pat White officiating.
