In loving memory of Wilena Frederica Runkowski, aged 88, of 550 Osborne Street, Fort Frances, who passed away peacefully at her residence on Wednesday, Sept. 15, 1999.
Wilena is survived by her nephews Ralph Eggen of Crown Point, Indiana and Bogdan Fraczkiewicz of Fort Frances and their families.
Wilena was predeceased by her husband Ted Runkowski on July 23, 1999, brother Bert Clark, sisters Marjorie Eggen, Lillian Strange, and Alma Maxwell.
She was born on June 29, 1911 in Fort Frances to the late William and Cecelia Clark. She spent all of her life in the Fort Frances, area. On August 31, 1956 she ws unite din marriage to Ted and they spent almost 45 years together.
Wilena worked for the Town of Fort Frances for many yeas and the Deputy Treasurer Clerk and also as the Parksboard secretary. She ws a member of the Polish Friendly Alliance Society Branch #39, and a very active member of the St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church Choir.
A funeral service was held on Monday Sept. 20, 1999 at 2 p.m. at the St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church. Rev. Mary Whitson officiated with interment in the Fort Frances Cemetery.
The honourary pallbearers were the St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church choir.
The pallbearers were Leon Peziol, Jack McCuaig, Peter Waselovich, David Hughes, Dalton Taylor and Ed Eldridge.
