WENZEL KEPES
It is with great sadness that the family of Wenzel Kepes announces his passing on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2008 in Fort Frances, Ont.
Wenzel was born Oct. 30, 1920 in Kislod, Hungary to Antal and Rosalia Kepes. He was united in marriage to Frances Marosi on Feb. 8, 1947.
Together they came to Canada in 1949, settling in the Barwick, Ont. area after purchasing a local farm. He farmed for many years, as well as working at bush camps in the Stratton, Ont. area.
The family moved to Fort Frances in 1976 and Wenzel worked as a custodian for several area businesses, including St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church and for the Fort Frances-Rainy River District Board of Education until his retirement.
He leaves behind his wife, Frances; children, Betty (Monroe) Plumridge of Fort Frances, Ont., and John (Angela) Kepes and Robert (Suzanne) Kepes, all of Thunder Bay, Ont.; grandchildren, Kevin Plumridge of Thunder Bay, Ont. and Mark Kepes of Waterloo, Ont.; as well as nieces, Barbara (Peter) Wipper and Anna Schwarz and their families, of Germany.
Wenzel was predeceased by his parents, Antal and Rosalia; brothers, Alex and Anton; and sister, Maria.
A funeral mass was held Monday, Feb. 4, 2008 at 10 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances, with Fr. Joseph Arockiam officiating.
Interment will take place at the Chapple Cemetery in Barwick at a later date.
The pallbearers were Neil Grant, Rob Belluz, David Sharp, George Cousineau, Bernd Leimenstoll, and Paul Fischer.
