Walter Wowchuk passed away peacefully at his home with family by his side on August 11, 2025, at the age of 91. He was born in Fort Frances, Ontario, on June 16, 1934, to Andrew and Rose Wowchuk (nee Kawulia).
Walter was an avid reader and always kept up with current events. He loved to travel, hunt, fish and tend to his garden. After his retirement from the paper mill in 1992, he continued to enjoy his time with friends and family doing the same and sharing his stories and knowledge.
Walter was predeceased by his parents Andrew and Rose; sister Helen (Peter) Fylkow; brothers William and Mytro (Svet) (Carol); nephew Scott Skiftstom and niece Patricia (Joseph) Johnson.
Walter is survived by nieces Kathy Harrison, Linda (Ross) Keeler, Donna (Joe) Kneisz, Sue-Ann (Algis) Rudaitis, Tara (Brian) Tolley and nephews William (Kathleen) Wowchuk and Gerry Stratton.
He always had a keen interest in and enjoyed hearing about the accomplishments and goings on of all his family including his great-nieces and nephews and their children.
As per his wishes there will be no funeral. A private family celebration of life will be held at a later date.
