WALTER GUSHULAK

Walter Gushulak, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away suddenly at his residence Wednesday, Sept. 8, 2004.
Walter was born March 3, 1940 in Vita, Man. He was employed for many years as a “chef” for numerous catering and bush camps in Northern Ontario, until suffering a stroke in the early 1990s.
He often would share stories of his ole’ bush camp days up at Pickle Lake, White River, Geraldton, and Shebandowan. Perhaps you recall him as “Wally.”
Walter is survived by his daughter, Tammy and her son, Greggory, of Petrolia, Ont.; and two granddaughters, Jamie-Lynne of Sault Ste. Marie, Ont. and Lise-Anne of Victoria, B.C.
Walter also is survived by his brothers, Bill of Fort Frances, Ont., George (Dee Dee) of Beaumont, Calif., Orest (Karen) of Rainy River, Ont., Dennis (Donna) of Ear Falls, Ont., and Gary (Kim) of Dryden, Ont.; sisters, Mary Franko of Fort Frances, Ont. and Iris (Ted) Gogosha of Fort Frances, Ont.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Walter was predeceased by his parents, Mike and Alicey; sister, Lillian McTeague; and brothers-in-law, John Franko and John McTeague.
Walter enjoyed his nieces and nephews, and always remembered their birthdays and the holiday season. Walter also recently kept in touch with two granddaughters, Lise-Anne and Jamie-Lynne, who he was very anxious to see one day soon.
A memorial service will be held Monday, Sept. 13, 2004 at 10 a.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Pastor Brian Keffer officiating. Interment will take place in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances at a later date.
Honourary pallbearers will be his friends and family and all who knew him.
Walter will be missed.
In lieu of flowers, if friends and family so desire, in memoriam donations may be made to the Heart and Stroke Foundation or the charity of your choice.
