Walter Clifford “Cliff” Rowland, 83, of RR#1, Fort Frances, Ont., passed away at his residence Sunday, Nov. 22, 1998. He was born Nov. 21, 1915 in Morris, Man. to the late Walter and Elizabeth Rowland.
Cliff moved to the Crozier area in his late teens and had lived there since. His main occupation was farming but he also had worked for the Township of Alberton, at the peat moss plant, and for Dale Perusse and Brad Bradford. He also had worked on the Heenan Highway, now known as Highway 11/71.
His hobbies were farming, horses, and cattle.
Cliff was united in marriage June 30, 1956 to the former Agnes Kehl, who survives. Also surviving are numerous nieces and nephews, brothers-in-law, Ken Kehl of Kelowna, B.C., and Dave Kehl of Victoria, B.C.; and many close friends.
He was predeceased by two brothers, Tom in 1968 and Bert in 1984; and two sisters, Ethel Hinrichs in 1991 and Leah McTavish in 1995.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Nov. 27, 1998 at 2 p.m. at the Guthrie United Church in Devlin, Ont. Rev. Frances Flook will officiate, with interment in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
Friends may visit prior to the funeral service at the Guthrie United Church.
Pallbearers will be Bobby McTavish, Alan McTavish, Donny McTavish, Ronny McTavish, Doug McTavish, and Eddy McTavish.
Honourary pallbearers will be Jim McKinnon, Garnett Tate, Armas Hahkala, Bill Sieders, John Rogoza, Norbert Bragg, Bill Bodnar, Billy Smith, Phil Fraser, Wallace Hughes, Milton Venables, and Murray Carlson.
