WALTER AIRON WERNER HINRICHS

Walter Airon Werner Hinrichs, 86, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Saturday, Sept. 6, 2003 at La Verendrye General Hospital. He was born April 1, 1917 in Baudette, Mn.
Walter came to Canada at the age of one and resided on a farm in Tovell Township, Ont., where he attended school. He later moved to Bergland, Ont., and had worked as a guide, truck driver, bush worker, and the paper mill for 40 years.
He served for three years in the Canadian Armed Forces (R.C.H.A.) in Canada, England, Holland, and Belgium. He returned to Canada and began employment with the O&M Paper Co., and later for several years by Boise Cascade Canada of Fort Frances.
He retired in 1981, and enjoyed fishing, hunting, gardening, and camping. He also was a member of the Church of the Lutheran Hour in Fort Frances.
Walter was united in marriage June 21, 1940 to Elizabeth Peters, who survives with four children, Carol (Nelson) Rogoza of Crozier, Ernie (Joan) Hinrichs of Toronto, Rod (Faith) Hinrichs of Crozier, and Gerry (Dorothy) Hinrichs of Fort Frances.
Also surviving are eight grandchildren, Nelson, Grant, Lindsey, Wayne, Scott, Erin, Robin, and Melissa; seven great-grandchildren, Erin, David, Daniel, Michael, Mark, Tyler, and Cassandra; one greatgreat- granddaughter, Rose; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Warner and Mary Hinrichs; one brother, Joseph Hinrichs; and one sister, Pauline McCabe.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Sept. 10, 2003 at 2 p.m. at the Church of the Lutheran Hour in Fort Frances. Pastor Dave Gallas will officiate, with interment in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
Friends may visit Tuesday, Sept.
9, 2003 from 7 until 8 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances.
The pallbearers will be Lindsey Rogoza, Grant Rogoza, Wayne Hinrichs, Scott Hinrichs, Robin Hinrichs, and Gary Flewelling.
Honourary pallbearers will be Ernest Peters, Duane Peterson, Kurt Schaefer, Terry Hostland, Howard Costello, and William Brown.
