After a courageous battle with cancer, Vivian Roth (nee Jackson), 79, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away peacefully, with her family by her side, on Wednesday, March 16, 2016 at La Verendrye Hospital in Fort Frances, Ont.
Vivian was born on July 4, 1936 in International Falls, Mn. to Chester and Frances Ruth Jackson.
Vivian was a devoted mother, and a gifted seamstress and baker. She loved to bake for family and friends; her specialty was bread-making.
Vivian worked as a cook for the Fort Frances Day Care, where all the children called her “Grandma,” and later she worked for many years as a cook at the St. Mary’s Catholic Church Rectory.
She loved her flower garden and took great pride in showing everyone the many plants she had acquired from others, especially her pink candytuff which had come from her mother’s garden.
Vivian recently started liquid embroidery crafting again and sold tea towels at her daughter, Diana’s, fall arts and crafts festival.
Vivian was a beautiful, loving woman who touched the hearts of many.
Vivian will be greatly missed and lovingly remembered by her children, Vicki (Wayne) Jewell of Fort Frances, Ont., Don (Patti) Roth of Fort Frances, Ont., Glenda (Ken) Hatfield of Vermilion Bay, Ont., Colleen (Dale) Brunetta of Fort Frances, Ont., Randi Roth (Ray Gladu) of Fort Frances, Ont., Diana (Lauri) Kangas of Fort Frances, Ont., and Jamie (Tina) Roth of Fort Frances, Ont.; grandchildren, Shanna (Travis) Weir, Michelle Loveday, Heather (Dustin) Faragher, Holly (Jeremy) Johnson, Ryan Brunetta (Ellee Gibson), Derrick Sawdo (Debbie Foster), Adam Jewell (Shannon Munro), Neil Richard, Brandon Legarie (Sandra Best), Randy Roth (Brittany Ziegler), Rachael Boland, Tasha Roth, Sara Roth, and Michelle Jewell; 14 great grandchildren; and her “other family,” the Yatchuks.
Vivian also is survived by her siblings, David (Mary) Jackson of International Falls, Mn., Linda Parson of Virginia, Mn., and Rita (Ron) Minsaas of Minneapolis, Mn.; in-laws, Harold (Priscilla) Roth of Cochrane, Alta., Ellen Belbas of Kenora, Ont., Gerry Cullen of Kamloops, B.C., Dwaine (Leoni) Roth of Winnipeg, Man., and Earl Roth of Fort Frances, Ont.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Vivian was predeceased by her parents, Chester and Frances Ruth Jackson; in-laws, Norman and Germaine Roth; brothers-in-law, Ernie Multimaki, John Hacking, Harry Belbas, and Bill Cullen; sisters-in-law, Maureen Roth and June Hacking; and niece, Heidi Parson.
A service of celebration and remembrance will be held Saturday, March 26, 2016 at 11 a.m. at the Zion Lutheran Church in Fort Frances, with Rev. Brian Keffer officiating.
Interment will take place in Riverview Cemetery following the luncheon.
The honourary pallabearers will be all of Vivian’s grandchildren.
