Vivian Beck, 88, of Rainycrest Home for the Aged, 550 Osborne St., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away at her residence Monday, Dec. 17, 2001. She was born July 12, 1913 in Thunder Bay, Ont. to the late Arthur and Ida Ottavinen.
In 1946, Mrs. Beck moved to the Rainy River District and settled in Burriss, Ont. In 1991, she moved to Fort Frances, where she had lived since.
She was a member of the Burriss Women’s Institute. She enjoyed gardening, travelling, and the outdoors. She also loved horses and dancing, and was well-known for her square dancing with her late husband, Harry.
Vivian was united in marriage Dec. 7, 1932 to Harry Beck, who predeceased her Dec. 12, 1989. She also was predeceased by son, Roy; sister, Esther; and brother, Ted.
She is survived by five children, Ray and wife, Fay, of Chilliwack, B.C., Isabelle and husband, Bob Lindholm, of Cloquet, Mn., Mona and husband, Brian Avis, and Ted and wife, Colleen, all of Fort Frances, Ont., and Tom and wife, Sherry, of Reef Point, Ont.
Also surviving are 12 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Irja Sylvia Pasanen of Timmins, Ont.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Saturday, Dec. 22, 2001 at 10 a.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Rev. Marietta Mar-shall will officiate, with interment in the Burriss Cemetery in Burriss.
Friends may visit prior to the funeral service Saturday morning at Green Funeral Home.
Pallbearers will be Ted Beck, Tom Beck, Ray Beck, Mark Lind-holm, Clint Beck, and Clay Beck.
