With heavy hearts we sadly announce the passing of Virginia May Reid in her 99th year. She so wanted to live to make it to her 100th birthday.
Virginia was born to Charles and Dexie Gaines on Jan. 29, 1912 in Bemidji, Minnesota. She was the second child in a family of 11.
She was married to Sidney Avis in 1935 and they had three children, Ted (Connie) Avis, Sharon (Don) Angus, and Linda (Leonard) Hill. She was predeceased by Sid in 1962,, and Ted in 1979.
In 1975, she married John Reid and together they spent 10 wonderful years at their winter home in Florida.
She had the least “wants” of anyone we know. She never asked for anything and made no demands on her family. She was content with the small things in life. She lived a quiet life enjoying her final years at Flinders Place and “her home” at Rainycrest.
Virginia also leaves to mourn her grandchildren and great grandchildren: Jane Mastrangelo—Derek and Christine; Ellen (Tom) Chadwick—Ashley and Ryan; Troy (Colleen) Avis—Nicole, Samantha and Ryan; Carolyn (Mike) Dolcetti; Wayne (Cheryl) Angus—Jeffrey, Jason, Joey and Justin; Lisa (Rob) Armstrong—Alyssa; Mark (Karen) Angus—Amanda; John (Lisa) Angus—Austin and Tanner; Christopher (Alexis) Hill—Gavin; and Bradley (Nicole) Hill—Duncan.
A very large extended family also mourns the passing of Virginia
