Vera Croswell, 88, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Monday, Jan. 24, 2011 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.
She was born May 12, 1922 in Chapple Township, Ont. to the late Clifford (William) and Mabel Gordon.
She was united in marriage to James Roland Croswell on Aug. 8, 1942 and together they raised six children.
She enjoyed crafts, curling, bowling, old-time dancing, Bingo, and card playing.
Vera was very family-orientated. In her late 60s, she took up on the computer, working on the family tree and keeping touch with her family, to the point that she often was heard scolding others for not responding to e-mails quickly.
Vera was predeceased by her husband, Roland; parents, Clifford (William) and Mabel Gordon; grandson, Wayne Neufeld; sister, Velda Williamson; brothers, Ronald and Roy; and brother-in-law, Fred Williamson.
She leaves behind her daughters, Verla Neufeld (Ted Scott) of Fort Frances, Ont., Valorie (Ed) Rose of Fort Frances, Ont., and Vesta (Doug) Teeple of Stratton, Ont.; sons, Raynard (Alice) of Emo, Ont., Ronald (Ellaine) of Thunder Bay, Ont., and Robin (Janice) of Winnipeg, Man.; 13 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held Friday, Jan. 28, 2011 at 2 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances, with Rev. Barbara Miller officiating.
Friends visited one hour prior to the service.
The pallbearers were Craig Neufeld, Allan Neufeld, Kevin Croswell, Duane Croswell, Trevor Croswell, Bill Teeple, Kyle Croswell, and Brian Rose
The honourary pallbearers were Debbie Croswell, Christine Croswell, Tammy Rose, Sheila Wiersema, and Sherri Potter.
