Hnybida, Velda

It is with our deepest regrets that the family of Velda Alverne Hnybida announces her passing at Rainycrest Long Term Care on March 18, 2016.
Born April 27, 1926, in Boxalder (Devlin) to Ewart and Hazel Wilson, Velda was one of four children.
She was predeceased by her husband, Peter; parents, Ewart and Hazel; brother-in-law, Andy; daughter-in-laws Debbie and Linda; and grandson, Brian Dean.
Velda will be greatly missed by her sons, Brian (Anna), Bradley (Linda) and Gerald; stepchildren George and Joanne (Joe); brother, Harris (Marlene); sisters, Elaine (Tom) and Laura; sister-in-law, Helen; and many grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
Born and raised in Boxalder, Velda moved to Kenora in 1946, where she married and raised her three sons. In the fall of 1969, she moved back to Fort Frances where she owned and operated the McIrvine IGA store for a number of years and also worked retail prior to relocating to Kenora.
She had been in Kenora approximately one year when she met Peter, moved to be with him in Winnipeg, Manitoba and they married in April 1977.
Velda and Peter moved from Manitoba to Devlin, Ontario where they spent their remaining years together enjoying large gardens, beautiful flower beds, large family suppers and frequent weekend excursions where they never passed up a good garage sale.
Cremation has taken place and a Family service will take place at a later date.
If friends so desire, donation can be made to Rainycrest Long Term Care or a charity of their choice, in care of Green Funeral Home, Box 427, Fort Frances, Ontario P9A 3M8.
