Valerie Jean Sjoblom, 68, of International Falls, Mn., passed away peacefully, surrounded by her loving family, on Monday, Nov. 3, 2014 at the Rainy Lake Medical Center in International Falls.
She was born Jan. 14, 1946 in Kenora, Ont. to Jack and Amelia Jean (McTavish) Walker.
The former Valerie Jean Walker was united in marriage to Bernard “Benny” Sjoblom.
Val spent her early years waitressing at Grandma’s Pantry, and later was employed at Century Mathews and Custom Business Services. She ended her employment years as secretary at Falls Family Dental.
Val enjoyed many craft projects, including cross-stitching, sewing, and macramé. She also was a gifted piano player.
Val spent many winters snowmobiling with family and friends; her summers were spent at the lake. In her youth, she enjoyed the beauty of Clearwater Lake, Ont. with her family.
She adored her many special pets over the years.
Val was predeceased by her parents; husband; sister-in-law, Beverly (Archie) Bzdok; and brother-in-law, David Shipley.
She is survived by her son, Jason (Heather) Sjoblom; grandchildren, Josh, Owen, and Celia; brother, David Walker; sister-in-law, Gail Shipley; brother-in-law, Duane (Tammy) Sjoblom; and many nephews and nieces.
Memorial services were held Tuesday, Nov. 11, 2014 at 11 a.m. at First Lutheran Church in International Falls.
Interment will be at Ericsburg Cemetery.
