It is with great sorrow that the family of Valerie Jean Kelly announces her passing on Sunday, July 16, 2006 in Thunder Bay, Ont. at the age of 36.
Valerie was born July 20, 1969 in Kenora, Ont. to Edward and May Copenace. She was united in marriage to Aaron Kelly on May 30, 1996.
Her love of children led her to a career in social work. In her spare time, she enjoyed playing baseball and pool. She especially enjoyed her time with her daughter, Cinnamon, and always looked forward to their movie nights.
She leaves behind her husband, Aaron, and daughter, Cinnamon, of Thunder Bay, Ont.; mother, May Jamison of International Falls, Mn.; and siblings, Elaine Jourdain of Thunder Bay, Ont., Aaron Morrison of Northwest Angle, Marietta Jourdain, Barry Big George, and Roseanne Morrison, all of Lac La Croix, Ont., Darryl Big George of Thunder Bay, Ont., and Rhonda Big George.
Also surviving are her mother-in-law, Cecilia Kelly of Whitefish Bay, Ont.; brothers-in-law, Fred Kelly of Thunder Bay, Ont. and Duane Mandamin of Whitefish Bay, Ont.; sister-in-law, Glenda Nash of Quebec; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Valerie was predeceased by her father, Edward Copenace; brother, Christopher Big George; and grandparents, William and Roseanna Big George.
A wake will be held Thursday, July 20, 2006 at 3 p.m. at the Big Grassy First Nation Community Centre.
A traditional funeral service will be held on the morning of Friday, July 21, 2006 at the Big Grassy First Nation Community Centre. Interment will take place in the Big Island First Nation Cemetery.
The pallbearers will be her family and friends.
