The Rev. Thomas Wilkinson, born March 23, 1919 in Medicine Hat, Alta., passed into the presence of the Lord on May 28, 2007 in the Peace Arch Hospital in White Rock, B.C.
Mr. Wilkinson ministered as a pastor with the Evangelical Covenant Church for 40 years. He faithfully served in the following parishes: Erickson, B.C. (1944-49); Alpine-Benito, Man. (1949-54); Camrose, Alta. (1954-59); Prince Albert, Sask. (1959-61); Fort Frances, Ont. (1961-74); Big Falls, Mn. (1966-74 on circuit), and Nelson, B.C. (1974-84).
He retired in 1984, but continued as a volunteer in the ministry for many years thereafter.
Mr. Wilkinson moved to Surrey, B.C. in October, 1993, where he resided until his death. His wife, Gloria, predeceased him in February, 1984.
He leaves his two sons, Terence (Wanda) of Elmira, Ont. and Donald (Pam) of Winnipeg, Man.; one sister, Agnes (Lloyd) Jackson of Abbotsford, B.C.; two nephews, David (Kathy) Jackson and Barry (Giselle) Jackson of Abbotsford, B.C., and their families; three cousins, Joyce (Leroy) Mickelson of Surrey, B.C., Ralph (Ruth) Wilkinson of Ottawa, Onta., and Lenore Foster of Woodstock, Ont.; two grandchildren, Kenneth (Jane) Wickstrom of Dryden, Ont. and Kathy Wilkinson of Fort Frances, Ont.; and five great-grandchildren.
A memorial service was held in his honour at the Emmanuel Evangelical Covenant Church, 17029 16th Ave., Surrey, B.C., on June 1, 2007. In addition, a graveside service was held in Nelson, B.C. on June 5, 2007.
In lieu of flowers, in memoriam donations may be made to the Emmanuel Evangelical Covenant Church.
