Thomas (Tom) Birrell passed away July 10, 2010.
He was born in Burriss, Ont. on Dec. 28, 1923.
Tom is survived by his wife, Rita, of 62 years, 11 months; daughters, Arlene (Andre) Lachapelle of Beaumont and Colleen Birrell of Edmonton; and his pride and joy, grandsons, Alain and Byron Lachapelle of Beaumont.
Also surviving are his sister, Jessie, of Kamloops, B.C.; brother, Bill, of Emo, Ont.; and sister-in-law, Eleanor of Manitoba.
Tom was predeceased by his brother, Morrison.
Tom was a proud member of the Argyle and Sutherland Highlanders of Canada during WW II, serving in Europe from 1941-45.
A memorial service was held Friday, July 16, 2010 at 2 p.m. at First Memorial—Harmony Chapel, 10541-81 Ave. NW, in Edmonton.
