It is with great sadness that the family of Tom Indian announces his sudden passing on Monday, Dec. 30, 2019 at his home in Ojibways of Onigaming First Nation, Ontario
Tom was born on Jan. 12, 1958 in Emo, ON to Thomas and Elsie Indian. He lived the Onigaming community all his life. He was proud to acquire his carpentry diploma and loved building houses in his community; he also enjoyed working on vehicles. He enjoyed playing music; his main instrument was the bass guitar; singing country and rock music. He liked to watch baseball and attended many community events. He loved spending time with his children and grandchildren.
He leaves behind his children Crystal Indian, Robert Indian, Thomas Indian Jr. and Byron Indian and their mother Lorna; grandchildren Johnathan Indian, Treydon Indian, Rayen Kokopenance, Noah Indian-Harper, George Indian-Harper and Danika Indian; siblings Larry Indian, Shirley Kampa (Tim), Ernest Bruyere and Sheila McMahon, great aunt Elder Catherine (Stubbulo) Kelly, numerous nieces and nephews as well as a large extended family.
Tom was predeceased by his parents Thomas Indian Sr. and Elsie Rose Bruyere; children Richard Brown and Ruby Kokopenace Indian and his sister Linda Indian.
A traditional service was held on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2020 at the Ojibways of Onigaming First Nation Community Centre.
The pallbearers were John Indian, Trey Indian, Steve Indian, Adrian Indian, Robert Horton and Bryden Kelly.
The honourary pallbearers were Joe Copenace, Ernie Bruyere and Ernie Indian and all Onigaming Community Members.
