It is with great sadness that the family of Tom Steele announces his passing on Saturday, May 5, 2012.
Tom was born Oct. 17, 1952 in Fort Frances, Ont. to Glen and Gladys Steele.
Tom was married to Bev Pattison on April 28, 1973.
He began working for Boise Cascade in the Fort Frances mill in 1974 and retired as the payroll supervisor in 2009.
Tom cherished his time with family and friends at the island on Rainy Lake. He often was the first to launch his boat on Rainy Lake in the spring and the last to take it out for the winter in the snow or the cold November rain.
He was a talented drummer and hockey player growing up in Fort Frances.
Tom enjoyed watching hockey at the arena and never missed any of his sons’ games—even practices.
Tommy was a friend and mentor to many of his sons’ friends, and was especially happy to be able to attend the recent wedding of his son, Paul.
Tom is survived by his wife, Bev; sons, Bob (Jodi) and Paul (Penny); grandchildren, Mya, Sophia, Taryn, Wyatt, and Ryder; sister, Glenda McGregor (Neil); brother, Mervyn (Donna); mother-in-law, Norma Pattison; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Tom was predeceased by his parents, Glen and Gladys; and sister, Pam.
A private celebration of Tom’s life will take place at a later date.
In memoriam donations may be made to the Royal Canadian Legion Br. #29, P.O. Box 819, Fort Frances, Ont., P9A 3N1.
We will live out our lives remembering you and hold precious memories in our hearts of you, too.
Although these are memories and your life has passed on, every night as we dream, you will always live on.
