THEODORE ‘DEEDEE’ GOULIQUER

Mr. Theo “Deedee” Gouliquer, 71, passed away after a lengthy battle with cancer on Dec. 16, 2002 at home in Pinewood, Ont. Deedee was born Aug. 17, 1931 in Pinewood.
He was a farmer and resident of the Rainy River District all his life. He was born and raised on his parents farmstead north of Pinewood in Nelles Township.
Theo married Margaret Georgette Gaudry on April 19, 1954. After working the dredges at the Steep Rock mine in Atikokan, Ont. for one year, Deedee and Georgette purchased the Bindoss’ homestead in Sutherland Township, where he farmed and logged for 15 years.
In 1971, they moved their family of seven to a farm in Tait Township (Bird’s Nest Pass Farm). They farmed dairy and then beef until the farm was sold in 2001.
Subsequently, they built their retirement home along the Rainy River at Sundwall Road. Theo resided there with Georgette, and terrorized the fish population, until his passing.
Besides being a farmer, Deedee was an avid hunter, as many of his relatives and friends can attest to. Very few fall seasons went by without him tagging his deer and helping many others in their pursuit of the elusive but abundant whitetail deer.
His success and accuracy of shot at whatever the distance will always be remembered, although we cannot recount the tales in his inimitable fashion.
Theo was predeceased by his parents, Pierre and Mary Anne (nee Pollard); brothers, Arthur, Peter, and Antoine (Tony); and sisters- and brothers-in-law, Madeleine, Rose, Marlene, Frank Huntley, and Hector Landry.
Deedee will be sadly missed by his wife, Georgette, and his children, Brian (Audrey), Lynne (Carmen), Nancy (Pete), Tim (Yvonne), Wendy (Wayne), Sandra (Shaheen), and Michelle (Keith).
Also mourning are Theo’s siblings, Hector (Irene), Irene Landry, Stella Huntley, Lawrence (Bob) (Olive), and Gerald (Mike) (Mary), and Mary (sister-in-law); his grandchildren, Amber, Brian, Arlene, Robert, Michael, Amanda, Margaret-Anne, PJ, Georgie, Theo, Catherine, and Yassein; as well as numerous, nephews, nieces, relatives, and friends.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Dec. 20, 2002 at 1 p.m. at Our Lady of the Way Roman Catholic Church in Pinewood. Fr. James Panikulam will officiate, with interment in the Pinewood Catholic Cemetery in Pinewood.
