Thelma Etheleen Smith, 84, passed away peacefully June 17, 1999 at the home of her daughter, Marilyne, in Thunder Bay, Ont. where she had resided for the past two years.
She was born July 12, 1914 in Disley, Sask. and moved to Fort Frances, Ont. in 1941.
She was predeceased by her parents, John and Anne Richardson; her husband, Richard (1971); granddaughter, Sheryl (1982); five sisters; and three brothers.
Thelma is survived by four children, Evelyn (Bill) Shine of Fort Frances, and Gordon (Norma) Smith, Marilyne, and Terry, all of Thunder Bay.
Also surviving are numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren; sister, Gweneth Richardson; and brothers, Leonard and Clifford Richardson.
She was a member of the United Church Women, McIrvine Women’s Institute, Legion Auxiliary, and the Moose Lodge. She had owned and operated Smitty’s Drive Inn in Fort Frances, and cooked for the CN Railway for many years.
She was very proud of all her family.
As per her wishes, cremation has taken place. There will be a family gathering in Thunder Bay on her birthday to celebrate her life.
Interment will take place in Riverside Cemetery in Fort Frances.
