Terry O’Connell, 43, of Fort Frances, Ont., passed away suddenly on St. Patrick’s Day (Monday, March 17, 2003). As a boy growing up, St. Patrick’s Day was a special day with his family and father, Patrick O’Connell.
Terry was born July 31, 1959 in Fort Frances. Terry lived most of his life in Fort Frances, and graduated from Fort Frances High School in 1977. He then went on to further his education in Kitchener-Waterloo to become an offset printer.
There, Terry worked for a specialized print shop using foil-printing technology. He enjoyed his specialized craft and working with upper-level companies.
Missing Fort Frances, Terry returned home in 1987, taking a position at the local paper mill and has worked there since.
Terry enjoyed fishing and collecting items that represented the splendor and magnificence of the bald eagle. But by far, Terry’s greatest passion was spending time with his family and his pride in his numerous nieces and nephews.
Terry was a loving and good-natured man who was always willing to help others.
Terry leaves behind his mother, Evelyn O’Connell of Fort Frances, Ont.; sisters, Cheryl and husband, Don Lovisa, of Thunder Bay, Ont., and Cindy and husband, Mike Yuill, of Fort Frances, Ont.; brother, Patrick O’Connell of Rainy River, Ont.; nieces and nephews, Jessica and Steven Lovisa, Randi and Kelli Yuill, and Alexis, Rylee, Dan, and Gabrielle O’Connell; and his beloved dog, Bud, plus numerous extended family.
Terry was predeceased by his father, Patrick; grandparents, Arvid and Julia Edberg; grandfather, Stanley O’Connell; and grandmother, Corrine Brooks.
A memorial service, officiated by Rev. Brian Keffer, was held Saturday, March 22, 2003 at 11 a.m. at Zion Lutheran Church in Fort Frances.
Family and friends gathered to celebrate Terry’s life and to mourn his passing.
Honourary pallbearers were all of his nieces and nephews.
Cremation has taken place and interment in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Fort Frances will be held at a later date.
If friends so desire, in memoriam donations may be made to the Zion Lutheran Church or the charity of your choice.
