TERRY RICHARD CONAT

Terry Richard Conat, 54, of International Falls, Mn. passed away Friday, Dec. 31, 2010 at his home.
Terry was born May 20, 1956 to Leslie and Elizabeth Conat in Fort Frances, Ont. but moved to Deer Lodge, Mont. at an early age, where he attended Powell County High School.
He moved back to International Falls in 1975 and began employment at Boise Cascade paper company.
Terry joined the U.S.M.C. in January, 1978 and spent significant tours in the Mediterranean Sea and Puerto Rico. He was honourably discharged in 1984 and returned to his employment at Boise Cascade.
Terry was an avid hunter from an early age, walking many miles in the mountains of Montana and Idaho with his brothers, cousins, and friends. Hunting at the shack in northern Minnesota was an annual event. Good food and drink was a tradition well-documented by his three-page shopping list.
Bowling was another of Terry’s favourite pastimes, although sometimes you couldn’t tell if it was Terry or Art. He and Art laughed about that for years.
Cold weather, snow, and road closures never stopped Terry from riding his snowmobile from the Falls to Littlefork to enjoy a day of snowmobiling.
Terry was a long-time member of the Moose, Teamster’s Union, Minnesota Deer Hunter’s Association, Rocky Mountain Elk Foundation, and North American Fishing Club.
He was predeceased by his father, Leslie T. Conat; maternal grandparents, Elmer and Emily Lang; and paternal grandparents, Albert and Cynthia Conat.
Terry is survived by his mother, Elizabeth E. Conat of International Falls, Mn.; brothers, Art and wife, Jolene, of Wenatchee, Wash., and Jack and friend, Carmen, Ron and wife, Lisa, and Les and wife, Toni, all of International Falls, Mn.; sisters, Shirley Mishow and friend, Stuart, of Saulk Rapids, Mn. and Kathy Heppner and husband, Don Jr., of Grand Forks, N.D.; and many nieces and nephews.
Visitation was held Monday, Jan. 3, 2011 from 4-8 p.m. at Green-Larsen Mortuary in International Falls.
In memoriam donations and condolences will be accepted at Green-Larsen Mortuary Inc. in International Falls.
Condolences also may be offered at www.greenlarsen.com
To fulfill Terry’s lifelong dream, the family will be taking him home to Montana.
