SUSAN LORRAINE SMITH

Susan Lorraine Smith, 43, of 577 Osborne St., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away Saturday, Jan. 23, 1999 at her residence after a lengthy illness.
Susan was born in Owen Sound, Ont., where she was raised. In 1979, she met Bill Adams and together they settled in Calgary, Alta. until 1996, when they moved to Fort Frances.
When Susan was healthy, she taught Girl Guides and Playschool. She enjoyed making crafts, and loved children and animals. Susan never complained during her sickness and always opened her home to others. She had a listening ear for others, and was often considered a second mom to many of her children’s friends.
Most of all, she loved her family, who were first and foremost in her life.
She was predeceased by her parents, Edgar and Leona Smith.
Susan is survived by her husband, Bill Adams of Fort Frances, Ont.; two daughters, Angela Shute of St. Catharines, Ont., and Melissa Adams of Fort Frances, Ont.; two sons, Jason Shute of St. Catharines, Ont., and Mike Adams of Fort Frances, Ont.; three grandchildren, Carley, Braydon, and Brianna; one brother, Maurice Smith and Anne of Owen Sound, Ont.; three sisters, Mary Ellen Campbell of Shelborne, Ont., Sharon and husband, Rick Payne, of Fort Frances, Ont., and Phyllis Watson of Owen Sound, Ont.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held Friday, Jan. 29, 1999 at 9 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances. Father Ed Kosa O.M.I. officiated, with cremation in Thunder Bay, Ont.
Honourary pallbearers were all those whose life was touched by Susan.
