STEWART VINCENT ROBERTS

Stewart Roberts, 87, of Rainycrest Home for the Aged, Fort Frances, Ont., passed away at his residence Thursday, Dec. 18, 1997.
Stewart was born in Treherne, Man. on Sept. 12, 1910. At the age of three, he moved with his family to the Rainy River District. He served in the Royal Canadian Armed Forces with the military police from 1942-1946 on the east coast with the Proval Corps.
On March 31, 1943 Stewart was united in marriage to Valida Provencher.
Stewart enjoyed travelling with his wife until they were unable to do so. He also enjoyed the outdoors, gardening, and was an avid car lover.
He was predeceased by his parents, Nelson and Maude Roberts; brother, Donald Roberts; and sisters, Meryl Silander and Myrtle Cann.
Stewart is survived by his wife, Valida Roberts of Fort Frances, Ont.; sisters, Lorna and husband, John Eckroos, of Victoria, B.C., Evelyn Semenuk of Campbell River, B.C., Lois Mathewson of Emo, Ont., and Verna Hagen of Atikokan, Ont.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held Saturday, Dec. 20, 1997 at 11 a.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances. Rev. Patrick Playfair officiated, with interment in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
Friends visited prior to the service.
Honourary pallbearers were the members of the Royal Canadian Legion Br. 99 of Emo, Ont., and the members of Manitou Lodge #631 A.F. & A.M. of Emo, Ont.
