STEVEN JAMES KRAHN

Steven James Krahn was born in Fort Frances, Ont. on Sunday, Jan. 30, 1994.
Twenty-one years ago, on Thursday, Feb. 3, the doctor sent us by air ambulance to Winnipeg, Man. to get his heart checked. Then on Friday, Feb. 4, they sent us to Toronto, Ont. for heart surgery.
On Monday, Feb. 7, the surgery was done.
Twenty-three days from birth, he saw home for the first time.
He grew like a normal child. He was on oxygen 24 hours a day from the age of four months to five years. Then only for night, when he was sick, at school during school hours, and just when he needed a boost.
He worked at Gingrich Woodcraft almost two years as a graphics designer. Then he moved to Manitoba and worked at General Metal, in Winkler, for almost three years.
On Jan. 14, 2015, he moved to eastern Ontario and worked at Millbank Hardware for two weeks and one day.
On Tuesday morning, he was having pain and breathing shallow, and was rushed to Palmerston Hospital. He passed away suddenly at the hospital in Palmerston on Tuesday afternoon, Feb. 3, 2015, because of pneumonia.
He is survived by his parents, Herman and Annie Krahn of Rainy River, Ont.; six brothers and two sisters, Philip (Regina) Krahn, Daniel (Christine) Krahn, Teresa (Stanley) Martin, Andrew (Lynette) Krahn, Calvin Krahn, Bennet (Ada) Krahn, Darrel Krahn, and Kaitlyn Krahn; and grandmother, Annie Dyck.
He also will be sadly missed by his 13 nieces and nephews.
Steven was predeceased by his grandparents, Gerhard and Judith Krahn, and Peter Dyck.
Steven was baptized on April 10, 2011 as a member of the Woodside Mennonite Church in Rainy River. At the time of his passing, he was a member of the Horndean Mennonite Church in Horndean, Man.
A service was held Thursday, Feb. 5, 2015 at 1:30 p.m. at the Brookside Mennonite Church in Carthage, Ont.
A funeral service was held Saturday, Feb. 7, 2015 at 10:30 a.m. at the Barwick Hall, with interment following at the Pineview Mennonite Church Cemetery.
