Stephen Forrest Erwin, 57, of 1220 Strachan Place, Fort Frances, Ont., passed away unexpectedly on Sunday, Dec. 19, 2010 at La Verendrye General Hospital in Fort Frances.
He was born July 19, 1953 in Fort Frances to the late Walter and Loreen Erwin.
Raised in Fort Frances, Stephen began his own window-cleaning business at the age of 24 and worked for 20 years. He also was a member of the New Beginnings Fellowship.
On June 19, 1993, Stephen was united in marriage to Karen Dyck.
He enjoyed Special Olympics, which he also participated in for many years. Stephen also loved fishing and sports with his family and friends.
He was a very kind and gentle person, and well-known by everyone in the community. Stephen will be dearly missed by his wife, Karen, his family, and all those who knew him throughout his life.
He was predeceased by in father-in-law, John Dyck; and sister, Elsie Matevia.
Stephen is survived by his wife, Karen Erwin of Fort Frances, Ont.; mother-in-law, Elizabeth Dyck of Winnipeg, Man.; brother, W. David Erwin and wife, Marilyn, of Fort Frances, Ont.; brother-in-law, Bob Matevia of Victoria, B.C.; sister, Cindy and husband, Jim Larson, of Camrose, B.C.; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, Dec. 22, 2010 at 2 p.m. at the New Beginnings Fellowship Church in Fort Frances, with Pastor Marcel Chenier officiating.
Family and friends may visit Tuesday, Dec. 21, 2010 from 7-9 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances.
Cremation will follow at Rainy River Cremation Services in International Falls, Mn.
The pallbearers will be Michael Dyck, Bruce Mattson, David Craven, Robert Oster, Raymond LeRay, Garry Wilde, Herb Snow, and Dan Tausendfrende.
The honourary pallbearers will be his nieces and nephews.
