Stella Elizabeth Owen Meyers, 90, of Emo, Ont., passed away Sunday, April 30, 2000 at the Emo Hospital in Emo.
Mrs. Meyers was born April 21, 1910 in Providence Bay on Manitoulin Island, Ont. to the late Alexander and Emily Owen.
In 1922, she moved with her parents to Iroquois Falls, Ont. It was there that she met and married Mark Meyers, and they were blessed with two children, Bernice and Gordon.
In 1946, the family moved to Emo after purchasing the present Meyers Clothing business. Stella helped out her husband at the store and later on when her son, Gordon, took over the store, she continued to work there.
She was an active member in the Calvary Baptist Church in Emo, where her life will be celebrated Thursday morning.
Stella was united in marriage Sept. 7, 1927 to Mark Meyers, who predeceased her Sept. 20, 1960. She also was predeceased by her two brothers and two sisters.
She is survived by her daughter, Bernice Campbell, and her son, Gordon (Adele) Meyers, all of Emo, Ont. Also surviving are five grandchildren, Mark (Deb) Campbell, Russ (Karen) Campbell, Val Campbell, Grant (Lucinda) Meyers, and Kim (Geoff) Pearce; nine great-grandchildren, Katie, Spencer, and Danielle Pearce, Brook and Brie Campbell, Taylor and Devin Meyers, and Donny and Fraser Campbell; two step-grandchildren, Kevin and Michelle Williams; as well as several nieces and nephews.
Stella’s life will be celebrated at her funeral service Thursday, May 4, 2000 at 10 a.m. at the Calvary Baptist Church in Emo. Pastor Andrew Hall will officiate, with interment in the Emo Cemetery in Emo.
The pallbearers will be Grant Meyers, Russ Campbell, Geoff Pearce, Don Bragg, Bob Meyers, and Don Meyers.
