Stella Almira Dick, 85, of Rainycrest Home for the Aged, 550 Osborne St., Fort Frances, Ont., passed away at her residence Wednesday, Dec. 24, 1997.
She was born Nov. 19, 1912 in Devlin, Ont. to the late George and Mary Farmer. Stella later moved to Fort Frances, and on Sept. 5, 1936 was united in marriage to Henry Dick.
Stella was a very active member of the Redwing Rebekah Lodge #109. She also was active with the C.P & T. (Humanitarian Services), the Knox United Church, and United Church Women.
For enjoyment, Stella loved to play cards, and to bake for and visit people.
She was predeceased by her husband, Henry Dick, on April 2, 1991; son-in-law, Edward Plourde, on Jan. 29, 1996; two brothers, Harold and Floyd Farmer; and three sisters, Melta, Bertha, and Nina.
Stella is survived by her daughter, Sharon Plourde of Fort Frances, Ont.; her son, Gary Dick and wife, Linda, of Red Lake, Ont.; five grandchildren, Brian Plourde and wife, Heather, of Spruce Grove, Alta., Blair Plourde and friend, Denice, and Todd Plourde and wife, Lisa, all of Fort Frances, Ont., Staci Dick and friend, Steve, and Brent Dick and friend, Tara, all of Red Lake, Ont.; four great-grandchildren, Corey, Courtney and Brodie Plourde, and Tori Dick; two sisters, Ella Oliver and Bea O’Leary, both of Owen Sound, Ont.; and by numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial service was held Saturday, Dec. 27, 1997 at 11 a.m. at Knox United Church in Fort Frances.
Rev. Patrick Playfair officiated, with interment in Riverview Cemetery in Fort Frances.
