STANLEY ‘STAN’ STAMARSKI

Stanley “Stan” Stamarski, 96, of Rainycrest Long-Term Care in Fort Frances, Ont., passed away at his residence Saturday, Aug. 18, 2012.
Stan was born Jan. 3, 1916 in Transcona, Man. to the late Mikolaj and Aniela Stamarski. His family moved to Fort Frances when Stan was very young.
On Feb. 23, 1941, he was united in marriage to the former Mildred Rose.
Stan was a honey bee keeper and provided honey for the residents of Fort Frances for many years. He also was a past member of the Moose Lodge in International Falls, Mn. and a member of St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances.
At home, he loved gardening, and was well-known for his beautiful garden. Stan also enjoyed his trips with his wife, Mildred, to Las Vegas, which they took regularly for many years.
Stan worked for the Ontario and Minnesota Pulp and Paper for 39 years, retiring in 1981 as a machinist.
He will be dearly missed by his family and many friends.
Stan is survived by three sons, Richard (Carolyn) of Fort Frances, Ont., Dale (Sheri) of Burriss, Ont., and Michael (Kimberley Lauder) of Oakville, Ont.
Also left to cherish his memory are his daughter-in-law, Patricia Stamarski of Kingston, Ont.; grandchildren, Chris, Andrew, Rodney, Danielle, Bobbi, Jeremy, Jonathan, Ashley, Cailin, Heather, and Heidi; many great- and great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his wife, Mildred Stamarski; one son, Duane Stamarski; sisters, Mary, Berna, and Wanda; and brothers, John and Eugene.
Funeral services will be held Friday, Aug. 24, 2012 at 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Roman Catholic Church in Fort Frances.
Fr. Jose Edassery will officiate, followed by interment in Holy Cross Cemetery in Fort Frances.
Family and friends may visit Friday, Aug. 24, 2012 from 10-10:30 a.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances.
The pallbearers will be Rodney Stamarski, Jeremy McCoy, Andrew Stamarski, Ken Gosselin, Steve Buttner, and Wendell Stevens.
