STANLEY ROSS (JOE) PERRY

It is with great sadness that the family of Joe Perry announces his passing on Saturday, Oct. 15, 2005 at the St. Boniface Hospital in Winnipeg, Man.
He was born in Fort Frances on April 18, 1926 to Harvey and Anna Perry. The family moved to the Ducharme Road in Crozier, Ont. when he was still a baby following the passing of his father.
He joined the army at the age of 18, trained in British Columbia, and was on the East Coast preparing to head overseas when World War II ended.
After returning to the Fort Frances area, he worked as a forest ranger in Quetico Park in the Lac la Croix area and then became employed with the local pulp and paper mill.
He held various positions throughout his career and had retired from the wood yard in 1988.
Joe was a man who loved to plan and tinker. He also was an active member of the Fort Frances Sportsmen’s Club, where he enjoyed shooting skeet for many years.
He always had his eye on a piece of property, a new car, tractor, or a project to complete at the house. But his greatest joy in life came from watching his children raise their families and, most recently, the arrival of his great-grandchildren.
He loved his family very deeply.
Joe leaves behind his son, Ross, and wife, Sandra, of Fort Frances, Ont.; daughters, Kathy Vanderplaats of Fort Frances, Ont. and JoAnne and husband, Don Balkwill, of Toronto, Ont.; grandchildren, Andrea and husband, Cam Trembath, Jennifer and husband, Todd Anderson, Jason Marchant and wife, Casey, Sarah and husband, John Gould, Craig Perry and wife, Holly, Chad Perry and Cory Perry; and great-grandchildren, Magnus Trembath, Lauryn and Jackson Marchant, Ethan Gould, Chase, Chloe, and Charlie-Anne Perry, and Alicia Perry.
Also surviving are his siblings, June Hughes, Lloyd Perry and wife, Evelyn, Clarence Ducharme, and Kip Ducharme, all of Fort Frances, Ont.; as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents; stepfather, Albert Ducharme; sister, Midge and her husband, George; brothers, George Perry and Leo Ducharme; and brother-in-law, Doug Hughes.
A visitation will be held on Tuesday, Oct. 18, 2005 from 7 until 8 p.m. at Green Funeral Home in Fort Frances.
A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Oct. 19, 2005 at 10:30 a.m. at Green Funeral Home. Pastor Tony Geense will officiate, with interment in the Fort Frances Cemetery.
The pallbearers will be Harvey Perry, Cam Trembath, John Gould, Ken Pocock, Stan Calder, and Cecil Duffy.
The honourary pallbearers will be his great-grandchildren, as well as Zach and Connor Pocock.
