STANLEY ROBERT NELSON

Peacefully, with his family by his side, Stanley R. Nelson, 73, formerly of Bergland, Ont., passed away Friday, Oct. 30, 2009 at Rainycrest Long Term Care in Fort Frances, Ont.
Stanley was born Aug. 18, 1936 to the late Floyd and Lillian Nelson. He grew up in Bergland and had a great love for Lake of the Woods, often guiding for New Moon Lodge and working on the “Ark” in Morson.
For a time, Stanley went out west to work, later returning to Bergland and then making his home in Fort Frances.
He is survived by his children, Robert (Gladys) of Westlock, Alta., Doug (Val) of Rainy River, Ont., Cheryl (Bob Jarvis) of Rainy River, Ont., and Dale of Winnipeg, Man.; grandchildren, Melissa (Dusty), Becky Louise, Neil, Becky, Jamie, and Hannah; and great-grandchildren, Dakota, Madison, and Hunter.
He also is survived by his brothers, Roger (Kathy), Jerry (Dode), Allen (Paulette), and Ricki (Janette); sisters, Shirley (Leonard) and Judy (Hughie); and numerous nieces and nephews.
Stanley was predeceased by his parents, Floyd and Lillian; brother, Dennis; and granddaughter, Robyn.
Family and friends will be received Wednesday, Nov. 4, 2009 from 7-9 p.m. at the Northridge Funeral Home in Emo, Ont.
Funeral services will be held Thursday, Nov. 5, 2009 at 2 p.m. at the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saints in Bergland, with Donald Larsen officiating.
Cremation to follow.
Interment will take place in Bergland Cemetery at a later date.
The pallbearers and honourary pallbearers will be Stanley’s family and friends.
